7 Reasons Why Having a Home Cinema is Better than Going Out to the Movies

Luxury Home Cinema Room

As we enter the third decade of the 21 st century, home cinema technology often matches and even surpasses movie theater quality. Investing in a professionally designed and installed home cinema system can result in a much more enjoyable movie-watching experience. Let’s go over some reasons why:

1. Visual Quality

Many movie theaters display in resolutions that are actually lower than modern home theater systems. Some even skimp on their screens, which results in large hot spots or flaws in the center of the film. I went to see a movie recently and the entire time I was watching I could only pay attention to the giant flare in the center of the screen.

2. Sound Volume and Quality

Movie theaters never can quite get it right, can they? It’s either too loud, too quiet, or poorly balanced. Maybe I’m just an audiophile, but I always want to jump into the projection booth and recalibrate everything.

Annoying theater patron using a phone at the movies. 3. The Other Theater-Goers

I’m the type of person who can’t stand when people talk or look at their phones in a theater. One guy 2 rows down live-tweeting the movie is going to ruin my entire day. Maybe that doesn’t bother you, or maybe you are the one talking and live-tweeting the whole time. If so, do you really want some stranger sitting in the dark stewing in rage at you for 3 hours? That doesn’t sound fun.

4. The Stinky Seats

Even if you are lucky enough to live near a theater with nice reclining seats, they still aren’t going to be as comfortable and customized as what you can have at home. Not only that, but thousands of butts have been in it for hours at a time before you got there. Don’t bring a black light in there either. A study by Good Morning America found that there is more fecal matter in a movie theater seat than there is in a New York Taxi, seats on public transit trains and buses, and even toilet seats. YUCK!

5. The Sticky FloorSitcky Movie Theater Floor

Most of us are going to mop our floor if we spill a half gallon of soda on it. In a movie theater, it will probably sit there for a few hours becoming a sticky mess. Soon it will start gathering popcorn, candy wrappers, and other biohazards. By the time you step in it, it’s going to be a pile of grossness that traps your shoe like a rat in a glue trap.

6. Watch What and When you Want

If your theater is at home, you get to watch your movies on your terms. No finding a time that fits your schedule, no waiting in line, no driving to the theater and finding a parking spot. Also, you can pause it whenever you want or just turn it off and switch to something else if you don’t like the movie. You shouldn’t feel like you have to stick around and watch something just because you spent the time and money to go see it in a theater.

7. Everyone Thinks you are Cool

There really isn’t a better way to impress your friends, family, and enemies than to casually show them you have a movie theater in your house. It’s like having a private bowling alley, but you’ll actually use it and you don’t have to worry about anyone injuring themselves in the ball return. You might need to be careful who you show, because they are definitely going to try to hang out at your house every day.

As you can see from these reasons, you need a professionally installed home cinema. There is way too much knowledge and skill required for the vast majority of us to even attempt to do it ourselves. Luckily, SCS Home Entertainment has been designing and installing home cinemas for years, and will guide you from start to finish. Give us a call today to set up a consultation. You deserve it.
